Implant-Supported Tooth

Implant-Supported Tooth

The artificial dental root, which is placed in order to compensate for the loss of the original dental root, is completed with crown dentures. Dental implants are separated into two groups as fixed dentures and removable dentures.

Fixed Dentures on Implants

We use the term “Fixed Denture” in order to describe the artificial tooth that cannot be removed by the patient after being attached into doublet or triplet bridges on the implant screws.

As well as being used for the lack of one or more teeth, it is also possible to apply a fixed denture along with the entire jawline and mouth.

At this stage, administering endosteal implants is important. Endosteal implants are treatments of fixed crown dentures on implants that teeth are constituted in singular, double, or triple groups on the superstructure.

How are the Fixed Dentures on Implants Applied?

The abutments that take on the task of artificial incisor tooth are placed on the tooth root under the favour of the implant that is planted in place of the missing tooth. At this stage, we procure the tooth structure that is ready for bonding with porcelain or zirconium.

The crown dentures that are made of porcelain or zirconium and fixed in bridges that are constituted of single or multiple teeth are attached onto the abutment in an extremely comfortable way without feeling any pain or anesthetizing.

Types of Fixed Dentures on Implants

The fixed dentures that are made of porcelain or zirconium are quite various depending on the used material and quality. Even though porcelain dentures are given more preference to, zirconium teeth are still a popular superstructure material.

At this point, some of the determining factors here are the material choice of the dentist and the aesthetic expectations of the patient besides the comparison of the differences in terms of price and the aesthetic image.

  • Porcelain On the Dental Implant

As some of the metal-based veneers cause the gums to bruise, they gave place to veneers as we use the term full porcelain.  The porcelain veneers which are more preferred on the upper structure have rather higher prices in comparison to ceramic-based zirconium veneers.

Besides being more closer to a natural image thanks to their light transmittance, the porcelain veneers are also long-lasting and strong materials.

  • Zirconium On the Dental Implant

Porcelain or zirconium? We come across this question quite frequently during treatments of on implant and regular veneers.  Zirconium veneers are amongst the two main options that come within the varieties of fixed dentures on implants and are used quite commonly.

They used to help us obtain better results when compared to the metal-based porcelain veneers before the full porcelain veneers have arisen. As they do not cause the gingival to get bruised besides their light transmitting structure, the zirconium veneers were especially appealed to.

The situation that wholly porcelain made veneers started to being used, not only made the metal-based porcelains render unoperational, but also totter the zirconium.

Porcelain or zirconium?

As the full porcelain veneers do not cause any colour change on the gingival, the biggest difference between the two materials has now disappeared. In consideration of this, whether to use porcelain or zirconium should be decided together by the patient and the dentist and in accordance with the patient’s budget.

Choosing quality material that will be used on the upper structure is also another crucial issue.

It is quite possible to obtain a great result by using both veneers materials as long as there is elaborate craftsmanship, smile aesthetics, and the expectations of the patient are also considered.

Implant dental treatment is a complicated treatment that should be reckoned with regard to both aesthetics and oral health.

Removable Dentures on Implants

The attachable dentures that we use in the treatment of subperiosteal implants are within the scope of the removable dentures on implants.

The alternative method for patients who use palatal dentures, who lost all of their teeth or all the teeth on one jaw and the endosteal implant treatment is not possible due to the losses on the jawbone is the subperiosteal implant treatment in which fewer screws are used.

Under these circumstances, the dental structure on the implant is obtained with the help of removable dentures made of porcelain or zirconium.

What is a Removable Denture on Implant?

Removable denture on the implant is a dental procedure on implants that all the teeth on the jaw are arranged in an order on one plate and that is made of porcelain or zirconium.

The removable dentures, which are placed on the jawbone and settled on 4 or 6 implant screws that totally bonded with the bone, are comprised of a plate that only teeth are lined up.

Removable dentures can be taken out by the patient however, it is not possible to move them with the tongue or chewing force as in the case with palatal dentures, they cannot move around when the patient is speaking.

Chewing and talking comfort of the removable dentures on implants are the same as fixed dentures on implants.

How are the Removable Dentures on Implants Applied?

The intermediate structures that we take on and off the removable dentures have systems that we call attachments which are placed on the jawbone and bond with it. By taking the smile aesthetics, chewing, and speaking comfort into account, the removable dentures on implants are made from porcelain or zirconium in one piece.

Differentiating from fixed dentures in aesthetic view is not required. In a similar manner, it is quite possible to create the utmost natural and aesthetically perfect teeth.

Types of Removable Dentures on Implants

Removable dentures on implants are categorized in accordance with the bonding types:

  • Knob Attachment on Implant

The connection between the implant screws and the removable dentures on implants is ensured by using a knob-shaped attachment that works with two or four implant screws.

  • Telescope Attachment on Implant

We obtain effective stability by applying two collateral implants on patients who especially have serious tissue loss on the jawbone by using telescope attachments which are stronger intermediate structures.

  • Locator Attachment on Implants

We can say that locator attachment is the more preferred attachment method when compared to the knob attachment as it creates a stronger attachment. It is recommended to work on at least 4 implant screws so as to be able to use them in an efficient way.

  • Bar Attachment on Implants

Removable dentures on implants are placed on the bar attachment so as to provide a stronger hold in conditions when the jawbone is at its weakest. It is another commonly used type of attachment structure by means of providing a stronger hold besides being quite useful.

Dentures on Implant Prices

Prices of on implant dentures or fixed or removable dentures on the implant are determined depending on many parameters such as the single tooth or bridges, total oral structure, single jaw, number of missing tooth and on the basis of the case.

As porcelain and zirconium veneers differ in terms of price, the chosen material adjusts the budget.

On top of that, porcelain and zirconium prices differ depending upon the quality of the material. Another determinant criterion is the clinic where you get the treatment the quality of the material that the dentist is using.

It is unfortunately not possible to give a certain answer to the questions about the cost of the denture on implant process, however, we can easily say that the price can be conveniently determined within these options of the upper structure cost by the means of the patient’s budget.
